SEASONAL POSITIONS-
ATHLETIC FIELD COORDINATORS & FIELD CREW-SEASONAL:
Hours per week dependent upon availability. BOPARC field coordinators and crew will work across the city park system preparing/grooming BOPARC athletic fields for league play, tournaments, and other private rentals. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. Weekend, evening and day time hours available. Flexible scheduling. Rate of pay (hourly): Crew-$12-$13 per hour, Coordinators- $13.50-$15.50 per hour depending on experience and certifications.
SUMMER CAMP STAFF:
BOPARC is seeking seasonal Camp Staff for the 2023 Summer Camp Season. Camps dates are June 12th-August 11th (no camp July 3rd-7th). Camp hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, full day and half-day shifts available. Paid training dates are May 25th and June 6th, 7th, and 8th. Rate of pay $15-$18 per hour-commensurate with experience, training, and education. Available Camp Positions: Sports Camp Counselors, Day Camp Counselors, Arts Camp Counselor, Afternoon Swim Counselors (11:30am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday), Van Drivers (11am-5pm)
General Responsibilities:
BOPARC Camp Counselors are responsible for the daily supervision of approximately 30 campers entering grades 1st-8th in the Fall of 2022. Counselor duties include planning, coordinating, and executing fun and innovative games and activities, learning, and implementing BOPARC specific safety and emergency protocols, mentoring, creating conflict resolution strategies, and having fun with campers and co-workers every day! Applicants should be enthusiastic, compassionate, reliable and enjoy working with children in an outdoor recreation setting.
Lifeguards:
The Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners (BOPARC) is seeking Lifeguards for the 2023 Season. Lifeguard positions are seasonal, 20 plus hours per week, and available at both Krepps Pool and Marilla Pool. Season is May 26th-August 13th. Guards are expected to work the entire season; end of school and beginning of school schedules as well as scheduled vacations will be accommodated. Rate of pay: $10-$15 per hour-commensurate with experience, training, and education; Must be 15 years of age by May 21st, 2023; Lifeguard Certification Required (**re-certification fees and initial certification costs potentially reimbursed. Guard must complete entire season with BOPARC**).
General Responsibilities:
BOPARC Lifeguards primary responsibility is patron surveillance while on duty. Lifeguards are also responsible for the safety of all patrons within the aquatic facility and are required to respond to all emergencies in-water, on deck, or at any location within the facility as well as enforcing rules and regulations to prevent injuries. Guards are responsible for scheduled work hours, must arrive to work on time, find a substitute guard when unable to work scheduled hours, and notify pool manager of schedule changes or emergency if unable to work. Additional responsibilities include opening and closing duties, assistance with BOPARC swim lessons, and oversight of scheduled pool parties.
POOL CASHIERS AND CONCESSION WORKERS:
The Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners (BOPARC) is seeking seasonal POOL CASHIERS AND CONCESSION WORKERS for the 2023 pool season at both Krepps and Marilla Pools. Pool season is May 26th- August 12th. End of school and beginning of school schedules will be accommodated as well as scheduled vacations, summer band, and athletic schedules. Employees are expected to work days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Paid training is provided. Beginning rate of pay: $9-$10 per hour, must be 14 years of age by May 21st, 2023, Food Handlers Card Required (online class available).
General Responsibilities:
Pool cashiers and concession workers must enjoy working with the public and possess excellent verbal communication skills. Daily responsibilities include, greeting guests, operation an electronic cash register and credit card machine, performing basic mathematical computations, balance drawer and manage daily income, communicate with the public in a tactful, polite, and friendly manner, execute basic concession functions including serving of pre-packaged food items. Workers should be available the entire season and are responsible for scheduled work hours or for finding an appropriate substitute if unable to work their shifts as scheduled, as well as notify manager of schedule change or challenges. Cashiers and concession workers must arrive to work on time and in uniform. While performing the duties of this job employees work in open-air facilities. Employee will be exposed to hot, cold, and humid conditions.
MAINTENANCE/GROUNDSKEEPING CREW:
BOPARC has immediate openings for seasonal and part-time, year round maintenance crew. Crew is responsible for general upkeep of BOPARC parks and facilities. Crew performs semi-skilled work maintaining work maintaining and improving parks, grounds, and facilities; operates commercial landscaping equipment including mowers and trimmers; basic carpentry and painting; and related work as required. Positions open until filled. Rate of Pay- $15 per hour.
PART TIME POSITIONS-
EUREKA CAFE-FRONT OF THE HOUSE:
BOPARC is actively seeking front of the house staff for Eureka Café, a new neighborhood café located inside the Wiles Hill Community Center. Experienced Barista’s are encouraged to apply. Lack experience but have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn? We want you on our team! BOPARC will provide full training to motivated candidates with exemplary customer service and communication skills. Apply now via the options above. Positions open until filled. General Responsibilities:

Preferred Candidates- Line Cook:
Some culinary education preferred, From scratch cooking skills preferred, Prefer 2 years of QRS line cook experience, High school education is desired, but not required, Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
General Responsibilities-Line Cook:
Accordance with prescribed recipes, Prepares food according to production sheets following simple or complex recipes, utilizing appropriate equipment, Quickly prepares all assigned menu item food products as ordered, to include breakfast, lunch and dinner service and any catering or other special functions, Close the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations., Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products, Prepare food in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment, Organize food stations according to BOPARC Experience expectations, Follow portion sizes according to BOPARC Experience standards, Accurately measure foods and adjust recipes for food preparation process, Complete daily and monthly inventory of all food & beverage items rotating stock, Monitor food quality to ensure it stays within company standards, Maintain a clean, sanitary environment within the kitchen, reach-in coolers, Give feedback to Manager on items that need to be restocked, Provide Manager with feedback, ideas and suggestions on a timely basis, Responsible for full set up and preparation of hot and cold food items for restaurants, Assists Manager with organization and sanitation of main kitchen including reach-in coolers and freezers, Assists in controlling food costs.
Preferred Candidates- Baker:
Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role, Understanding of food safety practices, Experience with cake decoration techniques, Excellent time-management skills, Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude, Flexibility to work in early morning shifts, Certification from a culinary school is a plus.

Open the bakery early in the morning, Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use, Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough, Bake different bread types, like pretzels, baguettes and multigrain breads, Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking, Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits), Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings, like flowers, Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls, Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. birthday cakes)
Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts), Track food supplies and place orders, as needed.
