2022 Summer Camp
Counselor In Training (CIT) Program
CIT positions provide high school students ages 14-17 (entering 9-12 grades in Fall 2022) paid entry level employment experience within BOPARC summer camps. CIT’s may work up to but not exceed 40 hours a week. Typical schedule is 30 hours per week or less based on the needs of the program. CIT positions are filled each summer based on BOPARC departmental needs. Positions are limited. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements and prerequisites are given preference for open positions.
Responsibilities include: mentoring, camp setup/cleanup, helping campers follow rules and model positive behaviors, providing support to senior camp staff as requested, participating in daily activities and encouraging camper participation, organizing and supervising recreational activities, and helping campers develop positive social interactions.
Requirements/Prerequisites:
• 14 years of age by the start of the summer program (approximately June 1st)
• Work permit (14/15 year olds ONLY)
• Completion of 1 year or YETI program or 2021 BOPARC JV program.
• Recommendation from the Program Manager or Assistant Director
• Desire and ability to work with children in an outdoor recreation environment
• Ability to work M-F, 6-8 hours per day, 3-5 days per week.
Vacations are permitted; but should be disclosed during training.
Interested, qualified applicants should fill out a BOPARC application of employment (attached below) and
submit to the BOPARC Administrative Office at Marilla Center M-F, 8:30am-4pm or email application to info@boparc.org- RE: Job Application. Additionally, applications can be mailed to BOPARC: PO Box 590, Morgantown, WV 26507.
COVID PROTOCOLS: COVID-19 will most likely continue to impact summer programming protocols. Please know BOPARC will follow all local and state guidelines as enforced by the Monongalia County Health Department. Safety is our always our #1 priority at BOPARC with FUN coming in a close 2nd. BOPARC staff will do everything we can to make sure your kiddos have a SAFE BUT FUN 2022 summer! At this time, there are no COVID specific protocols. As information becomes available or changes, it will be made immediately available to the public.
