2022 BOPARC Summer Arts Day Camp Series
A unique opportunity for children entering grades 3-6 in Fall 2022 to learn, explore, and create with the instruction of some of the best artists and art educators in Morgantown. Each camp will be limited to 16 students, allowing the class to tackle techniques and projects not possible in a traditional school setting. Half day and full day camp options are available. For those families wanting a full day option, campers will be transported via BOPARC van to Marilla Pool for afternoon swimming. Vans leave Wiles Hill at approximately Noon and arrive at Marilla Center by 12:30pm. Morning instruction takes place at the Wiles Hill Community Center Arts Studio- Studio 287.
Fee per week: $170(Half Day) $225(Full Day)
Fee includes all supplies, instruction, and transportation if applicable.
Drop off Location: Wiles Hill Community Building
Time: 8am-Noon (Half Day - Pick Up Wiles Hill)
8am-5:30pm (Full Day - Pick Up Marilla Park - Must Add Swim Option for Full Day)
June 6-10 - Stained Glass
Instructor: Debora Palmer, BOPARC Arts Coordinator
Discover the magical world of stained glass and all the ways it's used both hot and cold in art making from transparent windows to opaque mosaics.
June 13-17- Sculpture
Instructor Sandy Cress, /K-12 Visual Art Educator Fairview Middle School
Create three dimensional art from miniature to life size using both traditional sculpting materials and non-traditional found and natural objects.
June 20-24- Mixed Media
Instructor: Mallory Young, K-12 Visual Art Educator, North Elementary School
Expand your painting, drawing and printmaking skills while learning about contemporary artists working today.
June 27-July 1- Bookmaking
Instructor Kristen Muscaro, K-12 Visual Art Educator Skyview Elementary School
Bind and decorate your own beautiful non-traditional books to take home and fill with whatever you imagine. The books you'll create might be bound with straws and rubber bands, stitched, beaded, origami folded, or more!
July 11th -July 15th- Action Painting
Instructor James Plaff, K-12 Visual Art Educator Pleasants County Middle School
Campers will take a look at abstract expressionism painter Jackson Pollock and learn how to use the actions of their body to create flowing, dynamic images.
July 18-22- Clay for Kids
Instructor Johanna Carr/ K-12 Visual Art Educator Taylor Co. Middle School
Explore the endless possibilities of clay. Create functional pottery and sculpture using different building methods including coil, slab, and potter's wheel.
August 1-5- Batik and Tie Dye #1
Instructor Eddie Maier, Eddie Spaghetti Art
Learn about 2 fun forms of fiber art. You'll fold, twist, crumple, knot, and apply wax to fabric to create unique color designs with dyes.
August 8-12- Batik and Tie Dye #2
